Travel with ASPEm
ASPEm offers young people (and not) opportunities to carry out service periods (volunteering or internship) at the Cantù headquarters or abroad (ASPEm offices in Peru and Bolivia or at local associations ASPEm collaborates with), through national and international mobility programs.
EU Aid Volunteers
EU Aid Volunteers is an initiative of the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) that supports humanitarian aid projects and strengths the local capacity and resilience of disaster-affected communities, throught the deployment of volunteers.
How does it work?
EU and non-EU based organizations create partnerships to define projects and select, train and deploy full-time volunteers.
The process includes:
- Application (publication and presentation of vacancies – 1 month)
- Preselection (application review, interviews – 1 month)
- General pre-deployment training (online – 1 month – and face-to-face – 2 weeks)
- Final selection
- Specific pre-deployment training (1 week)
- Deployment (1 to 18 months)
- EU Aid Volunteers Receive:
- Travel and accommodation during training
- Travel and accommodation during deployment
- Subsistence allowance during deployment, based on local costs, to cover the main living costs
- Insurance during deployment
- A new accommodation allowance
- Coaching and mentoring
During the preparation period and during deployment, EU Aid Volunteers will be assigned a tutor to define and monitor a learning and development plan.Through an online platform, EU Aid Volunteers must also be active in sharing their experience (for example with stories and pictures).
Who can apply?
- EU citizens or long-term residents of EU member states with minimum age of 18
- Candidates with less than 5 years of work experience can apply for JUNIOR positions
- Candidates with more than 5 years of work experience can apply for SENIOR positions
- Nationals of any country can apply for ON-LINE EUAV positions

No reimbursement is foreseen for on-line positions
Civil service
The Universal Civil Service is an initiative of the Department for Youth Policies and the Universal Civil Service.
How does it work?
The initiative allows for a period of service in Italy or abroad in projects of:
- Assistance;
- Civil protection;
- Environmental heritage and urban redevelopment of historical, artistic and cultural heritage;
- Education and cultural, landscape, environmental, sport, sustainable and social tourism promotion;
- Mountain agriculture, social agriculture and biodiversity;
- Promotion of peace between peoples, non-violence and unarmed defense;
- Promotion and protection of human rights;
- Development cooperation;
- Promotion of Italian culture abroad and support for communities of Italians abroad.
Who can apply?
- Italian citizens
- Citizens of other EU countries
- Non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy
- Between 18 and 28 years not exceeded at the time of application (28 years and 364 days)
- That have not reported first-degree convictions for criminal offenses
Volunteers who
- Have interrupted the civil service due to the closure of the project provided that the service has been carried out for less than 6 months,
- Have interrupted the civil service due to exceeding the expected days of illness provided that the service has been carried out for less than 6 months,
- Have already carried out the civil service under the European “Youth Guarantee” program, the European experimental project IVOforALL or the Civil Peace Corps,
Can also apply.
Youth who:
- Belong to the military and police forces,
- Have already taken part to or taking part in the National Civil Service or Universal Civil Service, or have interrupted the service before the scheduled deadline,
- Have ongoing employment or paid collaboration of any kind with the entity that carries out the project, or have had such relationships lasting more than three months in the 12 months preceding the date of publication of the notice,
Cannot apply.
SCU Volunteers receive:
- Training;
- Formative credits;
- Certificate of participation in the civil service;
- Recognition and enhancement of acquired skills;
- Evaluation of the experience in public competitions with the same methods and the same value as the service provided at the Public Administration and can be used as a title of preference;
- Recognition of the service for the purposes of social security treatment (redeemable);
- Monthly allowance of € 439.50; for foreign service, a daily foreign allowance of between 13 and 15 € is added, depending on the country of service;
- For service abroad: food, accommodation, round trip and a return (round trip) during the service if required by the project;
- Variable permits proportionally to the service period (20 days for 12 months).

Once you have chosen your project, you will only be able to send the application through the online application platform (DOL) accessible via PC, tablet and smart phone at the address https://domandaonline.serviziocivile.it.
To access the platform
Italian citizens residing in Italy or abroad and citizens of countries outside the European Union regularly residing in Italy can only use SPID, the Public Digital Identity System. All information on what SPID is, what services it offers and how to request it is available on the website of the Agency for Digital Italy www.agid.gov.it/it/piattaforme/spid. Identity Providers provide different registration methods, free or paid. To request and obtain SPID credentials you need a valid identity document (identity card or passport), the health card, an e-mail address and a mobile phone number.
Citizens belonging to a European Union country other than Italy or to Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein, who still cannot have the SPID, and citizens of countries outside the European Union awaiting the issue of a residence permit, can access the DOL platform services upon request of specific credentials from the Department, according to a procedure available on the home page of the platform itself.
Activating the SPID credentials can take a few days; remember to start early enough to send the application on time.

Fill in the indicated sections: 1-Project; 2-Data and declarations; 3-Titles and experiences according to the indications of the guide.
