The “Sustainable Development through Humanitarian Aid Volunteers – SuD HAV 2” project is the continuation of the SuD HAV project. Like the previous one, it aims to support associations from non-EU countries with expert humanitarian volunteers to work on local projects and to help their beneficiaries. The sending organizations (French, Italian and Estonian) will recruit, prepare, send and evaluate 44 European volunteers in 10 developing countries (Thailand, Nepal, India, Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Peru, Bolivia, Ukraine and Palestine) for volunteer projects ranging from 6 to 12 months. Volunteering activities will mainly take place in the areas of education, community development, management development, health, food safety, agriculture.

In addition to sending volunteers, the project will include various training activities to strengthen the capacities of participating organizations in managing volunteers. Numerous study visits and will be carried out by non-EU partners to involve and share their experience with other associations in their territory.

Project partners and volunteers will ensure the dissemination and promotion of the project activities and their results, and the promotion of the initiative.

Targets

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

Improve the projects of the local partners (new methods, tools and skills);
Improve coordination of humanitarian and voluntary projects of non-EU partners;
Reach and develop a new humanitarian project to support local communities;
Acquire new skills and new experiences as an EU Aid volunteer;
Widely spread the values, activities, results of the EU Aid Volunteers project and global initiatives.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

Support of host organizations and their beneficiaries by sending 44 EU Aid Volunteers to strengthen their humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development and resilience building projects.
Maintain solid relationships between the 13 project partners and strengthen the capacities of the 10 Extra-EU partners and other local organizations.
Ensure the visibility of the EU Aid Volunteers project and initiative.

Place of development and partner associations:

The project brings together 13 partners: 3 from the EU (sending organizations) and 10 from developing countries (host organizations) and will take place in the places where these associations operate.

Duration: 01/10/2018 – 30/09/2020
Beneficiaries:

host associations located in developing countries, 4,000 members of local communities, 1,100 students, 1,100 children, 200 local leaders.

Actions:

All volunteers will participate in safety training before departure. During spring 2019, study visits will be carried out by EU partners in each extra-EU partner to define the needs and activities that will be carried out by volunteers. During these visits some methods and tools will be shared by the EU partners with those outside the EU to develop their elasticity regarding their local context and about any risks. In June 2019, non-EU partners will have the opportunity to participate in a training session on relevant issues related to the management of humanitarian volunteering. Finally, in the summer of 2020, evaluation visits will make it possible to ensure that all the measures and tools have been created through the projects in order to build resilience and limit future risks following the closure of the project.
